May Hero of the Month: Mary Armstrong-Reiner

May 1, 2025 | Hero of the Month

This May, Capstone Hospice proudly recognizes Mary Armstrong-Reiner as our Hero of the Month. Mary serves as a Chaplain, offering invaluable spiritual and emotional care to patients and their families during life’s most tender moments.

Mary’s journey into hospice care began with a personal experience—walking alongside a member of her church in Illinois during her final days. That moment of service and compassion ignited a calling that would lead her to hospice chaplaincy. Today, she continues that path with passion, providing comfort, presence, and guidance not only during a patient’s last days or months but also in the grieving process that follows.

When asked what she loves most about working at Capstone, Mary found it hard to choose just one thing—and for good reason. She cherishes both the incredible staff she collaborates with daily and the privilege of serving patients and their families. It’s that balance of camaraderie and purpose that fuels her meaningful work.

Outside of her role at Capstone, Mary fills her time with creativity and joy. She’s an avid reader, a fan of Star Wars and Marvel movies and series, and loves attending baseball games. Her passions also include traveling, baking, scrapbooking, and crafting—activities that allow her to recharge and express her joy for life.

Mary has chosen “Vacation Bible School for All” as the recipient of her charitable donation. This inclusive VBS program—designed especially for individuals with special needs and welcoming of neurotypical children as well—is held at Epiphany Lutheran Church in Conyers, Georgia, where Mary also serves as the program’s director. Her commitment to service clearly extends beyond hospice and into the broader community, where she continues to create spaces of joy, acceptance, and spiritual growth.

We extend our warmest congratulations to Mary Armstrong-Reiner for her extraordinary service and heartfelt commitment to Capstone Hospice. Her passion, compassion, and dedication make her a true light in the lives of those she serves. Thank you, Mary, for all that you do.
